Name/Title NETSUKE
Brief Description This traditional carved Japanese toggle has been identified as a sashinetsuke. Meaning "to stab", the sashinetsuke is a sophisticated carved version of the sticks originally used as improvised toggles to fasten clothing or pouches or baskets. This netsuke is carved with monkeys, one on top peering over the edge and holding a piece of fruit, and two smaller animals looking up towards him. The toggle is also carved with leaves and a wood grain effect.
