Brief Description Three London sperm candles, one has been lit, are still in their original packet. These award winning spermaceti candles were manufactured in New Zealand.

Spermaceti, a waxy fluid substance found in the head of sperm whales, was an important source of candle wax from the late 18th century through much of the 19th century. Candlepower is a term to describe light output and is based on a measurement of the light produced from a pure spermaceti candle of a set weight, burning at a set rate.
