Brief Description This tekoteko, or gable figure for a carved house, is a replica of the original tekoteko from Waiherehere wharepuni at Koriniti by the Whanganui River.

The copy was carved by George Shepherd, Taxidermist, then Assistant and then Curator at Wanganui Public Museum from 1912 to 1946. The original tekoteko was retained at Koriniti until around 1992.
