Name/Title CAT, MUMMIFIED
Brief Description This mummified cat was possibly brought into New Zealand after World War II, one of the many "souvenired" treasures that turned up frequently. The ancient Egyptians mummified animals as well as people. Their gods often had an animal associated with them, and they believed that giving those animals a proper burial would please the god. Bastet, a mother goddess, was associated with cats.
