PHOTOGRAPH; Pipiriki Wharf
|
Brief Description |
A black and white photograph of boats docking at Pipiriki. The view was taken from the riverbank and looks over the sandy bank towards the dock with four small vessels moored against it. Two women and two children stand on the landing, and a woman with more (blurry) children walk along the first path to the right. Bush covered hills rise in the distance, and another vessel is visible upriver. The moored boats are identified as The Ongarue (possibly Waiiti), an old coal punt (used for storage and towed into place by the Wairere), the Waiora, and the Wairua (both in original state). The ship on the river is named as the Wariere.
