This long rectangular sign for E. Ellery Gilbert & Co., a music and piano business in Whanganui, was made by Chandler & Co Ltd, of stiff cardboard with paper adhered to front and reverse. Both sides have signs.
On side one the graphics are painted onto a cream-yellow background with lettering in green, black, red, advertising Gulbransen Registering Pianos available through the business. A toddler plays with the pedals of an upright piano.
The reverse of has painted information about gramophone records, particularly jazz and fox trot, available at E. Ellery Gilbert & Co, with hand painted images of records.
