PHOTOGRAPH; Taupo Quay opposite Moutoa Gardens
|
Brief Description |
One of a collection of black and white photographs of buildings and streets in Whanganui This print is a view of Taupo Quay from Moutoa Gardens. The Union Boat Club and the Rowing Club buildings can be seen at centre with Durie Hill in the background.
The Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board sub-station rubbed shoulders with the abundance of rowing clubs. The Power Board was constituted in 1922 and included representatives from the central North Island county councils and town districts where it was to provide power. In 1990 Midwestern Powerco was formed to take over the business and was renamed Powerco in 1993.
