One of a collection of black and white photographs of buildings and streets in Whanganui, this print being a view of Ridgway Street from St Hill Street.
The W T Stewart Motor Co Ltd replaced a corner shop grocery. Garages serviced the growing number of private and businesses that operated road vehicles. The new Chief Post Office is under construction further down the road. This was an ambitious building project to provide regional communication headquarters.
