One of a collection of black and white photographs of buildings and streets in Whanganui, this print is of Ridgway Street from Drews Avenue, formerly Wicksteed Place. Commercial buildings have been constructed on the west side with W S McCrorie Plumbers in the foreground. They all have apartments above.
This combination of working and living spaces was more usually found in larger cities because of transport or housing shortages.
