This black and white image is of Basilia and Nancy Taylor, the daughters of the Reverend Basil Maples Taylor and Mrs Bertha Taylor. The image shows two girls, aged around 8-10 years old, seated at a children's play tea party with cups and saucers on the table in front of them and toys and dolls seated around the table. The girl on the left has brown hair and eyes, and girl on the right has blonde hair and blue eyes; both girls smile at the camera.
Basil Maples Taylor married Bertha Charlotte Amelia Wall in Porirua on 6 January 1904. Basil was a school teacher and lay preacher. In 1927 he was ordained as a clergyman in the Church of England. He was appointed vicar of the parish of Suburban North and the family took up residence at Wakapuaka near Nelson, later moving to Hinds Parish in Canterbury.
