This carving in hard wood of a setter dog is by a Swiss craftsman. It was purchased by Whanganui printer and publisher A D Willis at the 1904 St Louis Exhibition in the United States of America. He later sold it to two Whanganui businessmen, who in turn donated it to the Wanganui Public Museum.
This dog is carved in a semi-reclining position with a collar around its neck and it is hollow.
