Donald Morrison was born in Scotland in 1817, and married Mary Ann Ross there. He farmed in Maxwell and died in Hawera in November 1903 aged 86. His son Alexander married Esther King in 1873, then Catherine Morrison in 1896. Another son, John, married Christine Black Paterson in 1883. Another son, Joseph, was born in 1860 and married Margaret (Maggie) Young in 1886. A daughter, Christina, was born in 1865 and married Nathan Darbyshire in 1894. His son, William, was born in 1869 and married Ada Louisa, the daughter of John Handley, in 1896. Another daughter, Mary Ann, was born in 1863 and married Duncan Robertson in 1887.
