Brief Description This black and white formal photograph of a young boy is identified as Richard Muir. He is standing on an arm chair, leaning against its curved back, with his right hand in his jacket pocket. He has blond hair and pale eyes, with one big hair curl on top of his head with the rest in ringlets, and is wearing a matching tweed kilt, waistcoat and jacket.

Richard John Livingstone Muir was born in Glasgow in 1870, the son of John who was a draper. He married Elizabeth Walker, daughter of James, in October 1895, and was a farmer at Karahaka, in Waverley. Together they had the following children, all born in New Zealand:

Richard passed away in 1936 aged 66 years.
