Richard John Livingstone Muir was born in Glasgow in 1870, the son of John who was a draper. He married Elizabeth Walker, daughter of James, in October 1895, and was a farmer at Karahaka, in Waverley. Together they had the following children, all born in New Zealand: Effie Doris born 1896 Roy Alexander born 1899 John Gordon born 1900 Eva Janet born 1906 Tui Elizabeth born 1913
Richard passed away in 1936 aged 66 years.
