This small black and white carte de visite photograph is of Mr George Charles Aiken, the younger. The image shows a man seated against a plain studio backdrop wearing a large woollen coat over a waistcoat and shirt with a fob chain on his left side. He has slicked-down hair and a bushy beard, and holds his hands loosely in his lap.
George Charles Aiken was born in 1863, son of George Charles Aiken who arrived in New Zealand in 1857. A farmer in Waverley, he married Louisa Hannah Spicer in 1885 and died 1941. He and Hannah had 11 children:
