George Charles Aiken was a farmer in Matarawa and Waverley. He was born in 1811 in Aberdeen, Scotland, son of Andrew, and arrived in New Zealand in 1857 where he married Helen (Ellen) Howie, daughter of Alexander and Jane. He died in Waverley in 1893. George and Ellen had three children: Thomas McWilliams, born in 1859, never married Frederick, born in 1860, married Grace Elizabeth Morton, died in Hamilton George Charles, born in 1863, married Louisa Hannah Spicer
George is also reputed to have had the following five children, born outside New Zealand: Mary, married Frederick Richard Parkes in 1861 Jane, married Charles Mungo Harkness in 1862 Alexander, married Jessie Dickie Catherine, married John Dickie James, never married
