Image is of an early resident of Whanganui but the sitter is identified only as "The Late Mr Bain" on reverse. It could possibly be Mr James Bain who passed away on 21st November 1891 aged 53; or Mr David Bain, and confectioner and baker on Victoria Avenue, who died by suicide on 8th November 1898.
