Name/Title PHOTOGRAPH; Mr Robert Bett
Brief Description Small black and white photograph, modern reproduction of an original carte de visite. Features a portrait of Mr Robert Bett. Image shows a man seated on a wooden chair in a studio with one arm resting on a book on a table and the other resting on his leg, middle aged with tidy hair and a bushy beared, wearing a woollen suit and waistcoat with top button of his jacket done up. Similar photograph to CVB.025.
Robert Bett was born at Leuchars, Fife, in Scotland on 24 May 1829. He married Mary Burnett (born 18 June 1826 at Auchry, Aberdeenshire, Scotland) on 13 November 1857, in Whanganui. They settled in Marton where Robert Worked as a blacksmith and timber merchant, and acted as Chairman of the School Committee in 1868. Robert died on 30 August 1873 aged 44 years. his business was taken over by Samward Ingram. His wife Mary died 7 October 1918 aged 82 years. They are both buried at Mt View Cemetery in Marton.

Roberta born 27 August 1873, died 6 December 1874 aged 15 months
