Edward F Bestic was born in 1828 in Dublin, Ireland, and immigrated to New Zealand where he resided in Taylorville, Whanganui, before moving on to Thames where he worked as a clerk at the Alburnia Mine Office. Records of the following children can be found:
Son, born 1874, died 20th August 1877 at Moanataiari Creek in Thames, aged 3 years 3 months
Son, born 18th October 1876
Charles Henry, born 15th July 1879, died 20th November 1879 aged 4 months
Daughter, born 7th July 1881
Edward died in the Grey River Hospital on 29th September 1895, aged 67 years.
