Brief Description Black and white photograph of a view looking south down Victoria Avenue towards Maria Place and the Post Office. Three trams and several cars, trucks and bicycles of the period can be seen in the street. Information on reverse reads: "Victoria Avenue looking south, circa 1920s. Left side: Power & McTubbs Cheapest in Town, Coull's Leather Warehouse, the Dome of His Majesty's Theatre, at the bottom of Durie Hill the two-story Clifton Boarding House on Souther side of the river. Western Side Looking South: Distant clock tower of Post Office, Tallest building with 3 flagpoles, George & Kersley's Economic now DIC, Extreme right veranda sign of Wanganui Cloth Co, the ultra modern facade of the dental chambers of the American Joseph McBrearty, Purser's Furniture Warehouse (which took up much frontage), The corner was the Melbourne Ltd, Beyond and on next forner (Maria Place) Perrets Building.
