Barkcloth (tapa) made from inner bark paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia papyrifera); brown dye; siapo tasina or siapo elei, Samoan barkcloth patterned from a design tablet, emphasised with freehand overpainting with a black and brown resinous glaze of o'a sap mixed with charcoal from lama nut kernels. Rectangular in shape, divided into 130 squares with overpainted triangle and pattern board fa'a Tuli or Fa'a Gogo (sandpiper and Tern) patterns alternating. The triangles are painted black and brown and their direction alternates up and down.
