Brief Description Masi bolabola or barkcloth (tapa); Fiji; scarf or waist garment; made from inner bark paper mulbery tree (Broussonetia papyrifera); masi bolabola is a type of Fijian white barkcloth decorated with hand-painted patterns in black and brown dye; long, thin rectangular shape; decorated in the Cakaudrove style with bold black and white geometric patterns, narrow brown and white border; the motif is said to be similar to the patterns formed in plaiting coconut leaves; very fine/thin.
