Barkcloth (tapa) made from inner bark paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia papyrifera); ngatu tahina, Tongan barkcloth characterised by large areas of light brown with simple to complex patterns. Plain border each end with simple line pattern. Body divided in 1/2 with pattern from two different leaf kupesi (pattern boards) with the main motif of an elongated triangular shape, on one section and floral motif on the other (? produced from 2nd kupesi board) also overpainted in black and dark brown circles at intervals (called fo'ihea or tukinaea) light brown and dark brown dye . Cloth cut from a larger piece, 2 layers.
