Barkcloth (tapa) made from inner bark paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia papyrifera); siapo mamanu, Samoan barkcloth with freehand painted patterns with a black and brown resinous glaze of o'a sap mixed with charcoal from lama nut kernels. Centipede (fa' atualoa) and starfish (f'a'aveau) pattern. Tapa is divided into 30 squares with one of the 3 patterns. Around the outside of the siapo is a border featuring black small lines (tusili'i) and brown and yellow triangular lines. Siapo has section cut out of one corner.
