Barkcloth (tapa) made from inner bark paper Mulberry tree (Broussonetia Papyrifera); brown dye; siapo tasina or siapo elei, Samoan barkcloth patterned from a design tablet, emphasised with freehand overpainting with a black and brown resinous glaze of o'a sap mixed with charcoal from lama nut kernels. Rectanglar in shape, decorated with design tablet with overpainting on the top surface. Tapa is divided into 5 bands across the width and decorated with small line patterns Tus'il'i and dark overpainted triangular shapes possibly trochus shell design (Fa'aliao) Base is white with brown dye and brown/black overpainting.
