Siapo tasina or siapo 'elei or barkcloth (tapa); Samoa; made from inner bark paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia Papyrifera); siapo tasina is type of Samoan barkcloth with freehand overpainting patterned from design tablet, overpainted with a black and brown resinous glaze of o'a sap mixed with charcoal from lama nut kernels. Diamond pattern border along bottom edge followed by 6 bands of two alternating patterns. Each band is divided into 5 rectangles. One design is similar to Tongan tokelau feletoa pattern. The other is tusil'i (small lines), a Samoan pattern.
