Brief Description Barkcloth (tapa) made from inner bark paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia Papyrifera); brown dye; siapo tasina or siapo elei, Samoan barkcloth patterned from a design tablet, emphasised with freehand overpainting with a black and brown resinous glaze of o'a sap mixed with charcoal from lama nut kernels. Pattern features chevron type stripes. Starfish . A "V" type pattern separating the starfish. 5 large brown dots. One edge has been heavily overpainted with brown dye, but with design patterns showing through to form border. Rectangular in shape.
