Brief Description |
This masi kesa is a Fijian white tapa (barkcloth) decorated with stencil patterns. The tapa is made from inner bark of the paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia papyrifera) and is then decorated with brown and black dyes.
Rectangular in shape, the masi kesa has a black stencilled border, two black stencilled semi-borders and a brown and black stencilled central pattern.
The central pattern features seni vutu patterns and draudrau ni ivi. The central pattern is repetitive, apart from one pattern.
