Brief Description |
This is the skull of a native cat, or quoll, from New South Wales, Australia. Although dubbed a "native cat" or "tiger cat" by early European settlers, the quoll (a variant of one version of an Australian Aboriginal name for the animal), is actually a marsupial. The quoll is a carnivore and mainly nocturnal, living in a den during the day. There are four species of quoll found in Australia and another two in New Guinea.
