Thomas Allen Bryce was born in 1856 in Brunswick, Whanganui, the son of John Bryce, an early farmer of Whanganui, and his wife Elizabeth Ann. He married Annie Elizabeth Mussen, daughter of Dr Phillip Mussen, in the Brunswick Church in April 1881. They moved to Kiwitea near Feilding and farmed, but their property burnt down on 12th February 1888.
They had the following children:

Francis William Garrett, born 1886, died 11th July 1907 aged 21-years (after a 12-year illness)
Thomas McAdam, born 11th March 1888, died 12th June 1913 aged 25-years
Philip Alexander, born 14th March 1890, died 1973 aged 83-yerrs
Dorothy Grace, born 1891, died 24th November 1892 aged 18-months
Alister James Douglas, born 30th September 1892, died 1st November 1909 aged 18-years
George Campbell, born 30th December 1894, died 14th December 1912 aged 19-years (after a long illness)
No given name (son), born 14th June 1895, died aged 1-hour
No given name, born 1896, died aged 1-day
Annie Jean, born 1898


Annie Elizabeth died in 1902, aged 40-years. Thomas remarried in 1903 to Rosa Guilliam Richards and they had the followng children:
Charles Allan, born 1904, died 1955 aged 50-years
Richard Montrose, born 1906, died 1967 aged 62-years
Duncan, born 15th May 1907, married Florence Helen Pavelka in 1932, died 1981 aged 74-years


Thomas died in 1929 aged 72-years. Rosa died on 11th November 1945, aged 75-years.
