Name/Title BADGE, CAP; THE CAMERONIANS (SCOTTISH RIFLES)
Brief Description This cap badge depicts a hunting horn beneath a star and is derived from the coat of arms of the Earl of Angus who was the first Colonel of the Cameronian (Scottish Rifles) Regiment. It also has a thistle wreath. On the back are two loops for attachment.

The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) was an infantry regiment of the British Army, the only regiment of rifles amongst the Scottish regiments of infantry. It was formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of two regiments, the 26th Cameronian Regiment and the 90th Perthshire Light Infantry.
After the amalgamation, the 1st Battalion liked to be known as "The Cameronians" and the 2nd preferred to be known as "The Scottish Rifles".

The original Cameronians Regiment, raised in 1698 and deeply Protestant, supported the succession of King William III, known as William of Orange and husband of Queen Anne. Its motto is "Nemo me impune lacessit", or "No one attacks me with impunity.
