Name/Title Galaxias fasciatus (Banded kokopu); mounted skin
Brief Description Banded kokopu are medium-sized native fishes in the family Galaxiidae, and one of the species that make up whitebait. Samuel Drew mentions keeping a "kokopu" in the Museum mudfish aquarium in a Wanganui Chronicle column (27 June 1898), and this may be that specimen, deceased.

The specimen is a stuffed skin, mounted to blue painted board, with one glass eye; Natural History Numerical Catalogue Register identifies this specimen as from "Family 29 Galaxidae. / 1573 Kokopu. Galaxias fasciatus. Wanganui." Its label says "Brunswick.W.", narrowing down the location.
