Brief Description This small hardcover book is titled "Bible Gems, A Birthday Text Book". It has a blue buckram cover printed with green ivy leaves and small pink and blue flowers, with the title outlined in gold. There is gold leaf on the edges of the pages, which are printed with each day of the year and a small Bible verse corresponding to each one.

This book was given to Maudie (Elizabeth Maude van Wetzinga) on her 6th birthday in 1909, from her dada and mama. The book has been partially compiled by Maudie as she added the birth dates of herself, her parents and other family members, including her sister Violet Florence born 11 June 1905 and died 1919.

Elizabeth Maude van Wetzinga, known as Maudie, was born on 2 December 1904 to parents Esther Florence (nee Miller) and Yetze Herman Peter van Wetzinga. Maudie married Nelson Hughes on 25 May1924 and they had the following children:
