Name/Title Pachyornis geranoides (Mantell's Moa); headless articulated skeleton
Brief Description Articulated moa skeleton possibly made up from bones recovered from Museum excavations at Makirikiri during the 1930s and articulated by George Shepherd. Identified by Trevor Worthy as largely comprising bones from Pachyornis mappini (now P. geranoides). Skull is missing. If this is the moa skeleton present in the 1890s museum interior photo, then its accession date of 1938 is incorrect.
