Brief Description A black and white photograph showing a group of four people standing on a ledge to the left of large caves, identified as the Putarata Caves on the Whanganui River. A large waterfall is visible. The group can be seen holding hands for safety.

One of 38 black and white photographs of Whanganui River scenes taken during the river trip of William Salt (brother) and Mary Salt (sister) and party, who rowed down down the Whanganui River from Taumarunui in about 1910. Information on back of photograph comes from G J Wilks, brother of the donor who made the voyage, or part of it.
