Brief Description Sepia toned photograph mounted on card of W H S Nicholls, son of Rev C.H.S Nicholls of Wanganui. Taken by D Thompson in Wanganui, 1870. Studio portrait of a young man standing in front of pillar fence and painted backdrop, wearing a dark suit and holding a hat in one hand.
WHS Nicholls was son of Charles Henry Sinderby Nicholls, Minister of the Christ Church Parish Whanganui. WHS Nicholls had spent time in Ngaruawahia and Dargaville but took the position of postmaster Paeroa and became well known to residents of the Waikato. He passed away suddenly due to ill health in 1892.
