These two Korean dolls, sitting on a green base, consist of a woman on the left playing the kayakeum, a tradition Korean harp, and the man on the right, listening to the music.
Their fabric bodies are stuffed with straw and their porcelain faces are hand-painted.
The male doll wears a black head-dress which has gold designs on it and runs half-way down his back, a long-sleeved pale green robe and pale pink trousers. A purple overcoat has has gold detail on its long front panels and held together with a silver clip just below the collar and an orange tie at chest level. He holds a fan in his right hand and sits cross-legged.
The female doll has black hair pulled into a bun with a gold hair pin going through it and wears a pearl necklace and two pearls attached to her dress. The dress consists of a white bodice with bright pink detail around the collar, a long bright pink skirt with pink flowers on a branch embroidered on the front and long sleeves with multi-coloured horizontal stripes.
