Black and white photograph of a man in naval uniform, believed to be Duncan MacKinnon. Addressed on reverse to Mrs Wilson, St Johns Hill.
Duncan MacKinnon was the wartime sweetheart of Mag Wilson of St Johns Hill, Whanganui. His brother served in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
Portrait of a man viewed from the knees up, wearing a naval uniform of a long dark coat over white trousers and a naval peaked cap. He stands in the studio with one hand resting on the back of a chair. Mounted on green card with photographer's details on reverse.
Duncan MacKinnon married Margaret Wilson on 20 May 1920 when he returned from World War I. He died on 29 March 1929 as a results of injuries sustained while working as Second Engineer on the dredge Kaione when an explosion occured on 28 March.
