A black and white photograph of the staff of the East Town Railway Workshops Yard in Whanganui. The image shows eight men, five of which are standing one the wheel base of a new carriage and three stand on the ground. The new carriage itself us behind them, with more carriages visible in the background. The men have been identified as (left to right): Back Row: Jack Hogan, Bill Seeling, Jim Hogan (later Liberal MP for Whanganui), Ted McMillan (son of Sergeant Major McMillan of the 18th Royal Irish), Bill Piper. Front Row: Mr Ellis (foreman from Devonshire), Hugh Campbell and Jack McNab. Photograph has been mounted on green backing card.
