Brief Description |
A black and white photograph of the vessel "Maroro" being towed into the Whanganui Harbour the tug "Moa". The photograph was taken from the shore and looks towards the entrance of the Harbour between the North and South Moles. The tug is towing the larger vessel, and a third ship waits further out to sea. Several people watch from the banks. The "Maroro" brought coal from Newcastle and took timber back to Sydney. It was a centre-board schooner that was built in 1904, weighing 230 gross tons. It was wrecked 24th October 1927.
