Name/Title STOLE
Brief Description This stole comes from St Marys Catholic Church in Whanganui. It is made of scarlet velvet lined with scarlet silk brocade and edged with gold braid.

The stole is a liturgical vestment made of a band of coloured cloth, worn around the back of the neck with the ends hang down in front. It is linked to the scarf of office in Roman times but today symbolises the bonds that bound Jesus of Nazareth before his death.
