Name/Title WASEKASEKA, NECKLACE
Brief Description This Fijian necklace, or wasekaseka, is made from split whale teeth. There are 24 units, all shaped to a point, perforated at the base and polished, and bound together with fine twisted sennit and coarser three-ply plaited sennit binding. The units are graded by size, the largest at the centre. The sennit binding extends 42 cm from the units on one side and 14.5 cm on the other side. This wasekaseka is incomplete.
