In this black and white photograph, the Mayor of Wanganui, Charles Mackay, receives HRH the Prince of Wales, Prince Edward, in a public ceremony in a temporary stage in Cooks Gardens on 4 May 1920. Dignitaries stand behind the stage which is decorated with flags. The grandstand is filled with spectators.
