Name/Title	SIGN, LOCAL BODY ELECTION; Smyth and Turney for Central Ward
Brief Description	This hand-painted cardboard electioneering sign was made for candidates Mrs Felicity Smyth and Mr Douglas George Turney, who were standing for the Central Ward in the 1989 Wanganui City Council local body elections. The sign is made of white-laminated heavy card with the writing in black, red and blue paint, and reads "Out with the Old, In with the New! Vote Smyth and Turney Central Ward, New Candidates". Turney, who had been mayor of Wanganui from 1983-1986, was elected but Smyth missed out.
