This novelty postcard, reproduced from an original water colour painting, shows a small girl holding up her wet knickers over her dress and frilly white smock while on the beach at Castlecliff, Wanganui. The title is "On the Sands at WANGANUI. / It's a lot better than being at school." The girl's body is partially cut out; the flap lifts to show the remains of what was once a tiny booklet of photographs of the town of Wanganui; only one page survives.
On the back is a hand-written message: "I seen you on / the beach the other / day. Norah".
