Brief Description |
This black and white photographic postcard is of a Wanganui Red Cross parade in 1916, staged to raise funds for the comfort of New Zealand servicemen during World War I. A cavalcade of cars, each decorated with miniature flags, seating several Red Cross nurses in uniform, are lined up in front of a brick building, the sideroom of Bakewell Ward at the Whanganui Hospital. A sign in the windscreen of the second car reads "Vote for Baby Competition No.6".
