Name/Title PHOTOGRAPH; Annie Blennerhassett, née Eliot, as a Young Girl
Brief Description This is a copy of an original photograph of Annie Eliot as a young girl. She is seated on a chair and carries a small posy in her left hand. She is wearing a dress with tucks in the skirt and both sleeves, and her hair is pulled back into a net. She also wears drop earrings and a coral rope necklace. Born in Nelson on 10 March 1850, she looks to be about 13 years old in this image.

Annie Elliot married Thomas William Blennerhassett and they moved, during their early married life, from Nelson to Whanganui. They had five daughters and four sons, all talented and well-educated. One son, Reg, was killed at Le Quesnoy towards the end of World War I.

The original belongs to Mrs Mary Mackintosh of Whanganui, Annie's grandaughter. Mary was the daughter of Thomas William and Lily, née Holmes, Blennerhassett.

Annie Blennerhassett died at Whangaehu in September 1928.
