Brief Description Sepia toned carte de visite photograph of William Jameson, great-grandfather of the donor. Studio portrait of a man wearing a military uniform, standing with one arm resting on the back of a chair and the other holding a sword. He has short hair and mutton-chop whiskers.

William Jameson and hiw wife Louisa had four children: Annie Grace in 1884, Sarah Maude in 1886, Ethel Jane in 1890 and Olive Faith in 1892. The Jameson family moved to Whanganui where Louisa and William took positions at Wanganui Collegiate School as cook and caretaker. All their daughters had musical tuition. Sarah kept up with playing her instrument, the violin.
