A black and white photograph showing the damaged Upokongaro Hotel. The photograph shows a two-storeyed building with broken windows. Two people are visible in the doorway, one unidentified man standing, and one seated on a chair identified as George Bisley, a local gorse grubber. This photograph was taken after bushfeller Jimmy Laurent placed a charge of gelignite in front of the hotel after being rebuffed by one of the women who worked at the hotel.
