A black and white photograph showing the damage to the Upokongaro Hotel after a fire. the photograph shows the building with the entrance still standing but the windows gone and the roof collapsed. A group of children stand on the footpath looking at the building. The tall chimneys of the previous hotel are visible to the right.
The building was built by Walpole & Patterson for J Hannan of Whangaehu. The photograph was taken on 22 October 1929, the day after the fire.
