A black and white photograph taken from the east side of Wanganui Town Bridge looking west down Victoria Avenue in Whanganui, towards the Watt Memorial Fountain in the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Ridgeway Street. Two men can be seen at the end of the bridge and a horse-drawn cart on the left is visible. Further down Victoria Avenue is another man and another horse-drawn cart on the right. The building on the left is the James Thain and Co store and on the right is Joseph Paul Clothier and the Milliney and Mantle store.
